DBNTRY Support

The traditional use of DBNTRY in a CA-Datacom application is to create a two-layer architecture within your application, separating your business rules and presentation layer from the database layer. This allows the DBNTRY module to perform the database retrieval, status checking and DML optimization for the calling programs. The use of DBNTRY provides not only a two-tiered application, but a consistent, optimized retrieval process for your application.

DBNTRY replacement for DB2, Oracle or SQL Server?

Replace DBNTRY with DB2NTRY or replace DBNTRY with ORNTRY or replace DBNTRY with SQLNTRY

The benefit of DBNTRY replacement is twofold. The first is to minimize the impact on your production code. The converted programs will require virtually no end user explanation or training since the code has had insignificant modifications. The second benefit is to retain the status checking and optimization that occurs within the original DBNTRY program.

Tiburon can automatically create DBNTRY replacement programs for DB2, Oracle or SQL Server. The creation of automatically generated DBNTRY replacement programs provides the accuracy of automation and the flexibility of optimization and monitoring. While the programs have little or no modifications, the new DBNTRY process provides a granular solution that supports ease of debugging, monitoring and performance enhancements. For specific tables that do mass INSERTS, the ADD sub-program can utilize array fetching for maximizing the load process. For long running jobs, sub-programs can be monitored to determine Table/Function performance degradations. We have found that our clients have had the benefit of automation, and the ability to maintain or improve their existing application performance.
