This course is intended to familiarize CA-IDMS DBAs with the requirements for using the CA-IDMS SQL Option. Topics include an overview of the relational model, physical and logical database definition, batch and online tools, utilities, reports, and implementing and maintaining an SQL database - including loading, recovery, tuning, and security.

This section discusses the models of database management systems, table relationships, and CA-IDMS/SQL terminology.

• SQL database definition DDL

Discusses logical and physical database definitions.

• CA-IDMS command facility

Describes to command facility tools for processing SQL commands.

• CA-IDMS/DB utility programs

Discusses CA-IDMS/DB utility programs and reports.

• Implementing and maintaining an SQL database

This section discusses the steps need to implement an SQL database, how to load data into an SQL database, database maintenance techniques, backup and recovery procedures, and database tuning.

Syntax for securing physical and logical SQL definitions is discussed in this section.
